Tips For The Best Winter Wedding

Winters in Florida are quite a bit different than most other places, so if you’re trying to choose a date for your wedding, you may just find that it truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

From beating the heat to putting a unique and cozy spin on your special day, there are many advantages to planning a wedding during the cooler months. Here are just a few of the reasons to consider a winter wedding in the Sunshine State.

The Weather is Generally Mild and Pleasant

While it does sometimes get (relatively) chilly here during the winter months, it’s nothing compared to the frigid weather up north. With average highs in the low 70s and lows in the 50s, you can wear the dress of your dreams without worrying about getting too sweaty.

It can sometimes get cool as the sun goes down, so plan to hold evening or night-time receptions indoors or arrange for portable heaters to keep you and your guests cozy and warm.

Early Sunsets Create Gorgeous Photo Backdrops

During the summer, the sun doesn’t set until around 8 pm, but when you have a winter wedding, you can get married at 5 pm and have a beautiful sunset as your backdrop. Not only will this create a truly memorable experience, but it will also give you breathtaking wedding photos.

You Can Embrace Unique Décor and Entertainment Options

From building an outdoor fire and serving DIY s’mores to incorporating seasonal foliage and other holiday-themed items into your wedding décor, there are many unique options that really only work during a wintertime wedding.

Being close to the holidays also makes this the perfect time for family and friends to gather. You may even be able to incorporate some special holiday treats into your wedding menu.

A Warm Location Will Appeal to Out-of-Town Guests

If you have guests traveling from out of town, they will likely appreciate the chance to get away from the cold and blustery weather and trade snow for sand – even if just for a few days.

That being said, it’s important to keep in mind that travel and accommodations are more expensive around the holidays and the best hotels may sell out quickly. If you’re expecting a lot of out-of-town guests, you may consider planning your winter wedding for January or February instead.
